The Amiruddaula Public Library recently hosted 'Virasat,' an intimate cultural gathering focused on the history and evolution of Kathak dance. The event, which featured Kathak dancer Pranika Bhatt, drew a diverse audience including dancers, patrons, historians, and art enthusiasts.
Led by Kathak exponent Guru Purnima Pandey, a former Vice-Chancellor of Bhatkhande Sanskriti Vishwavidyalaya, the session combined narration with performances. Her students, Vallary Pathak and Krishna Sharma, demonstrated various Kathak compositions, beginning with a Ganesh Vandana.
Amrit Sinha, a Bharatnatyam dancer and choreographer, emphasized the importance of such gatherings. He called for more gurus to organize and attend baithaks, ensuring continued support from patrons and sustaining the rich artistic conversation within the city.
