Kate Winslet steps behind the camera for her directorial debut with "Goodbye June," a film penned by her son, Joe Anders. The screenplay was inspired by Anders' deeply emotional experience of his grandmother's passing, a tribute to family and shared vulnerability. This mother-son collaboration presented a unique dynamic, blending personal history with professional ambition.

Anders, a graduate of the National Film and Television School, initially shared the script with his mother for feedback, not anticipating a film production. Winslet, however, recognized its cinematic potential and championed the project, drawing from her own growing experience in producing and her desire to nurture her son's creative vision. She emphasized wanting the writer's journey to extend beyond the script's completion.
