Bollywood's Gore Trend: Kareena Kapoor Calls Out Lack of Fun

Kareena Kapoor has expressed concern over the growing dominance of hyper-masculine action films in Hindi cinema. She observes a significant shift where aggression, gore, and spectacle are prioritized over elements like fun, color, songs, love, and romance that once defined Bollywood. Kapoor stated that many recent big-ticket films, which have achieved box office success, steer away from these traditional entertainment aspects.

Fellow actor Kalyani Priyadarshan agreed, attributing this trend to audience preferences for sensational and shocking content. She believes this focus on spectacle, often achieved through violence, is a current trend that may not last but is currently shaping the industry. Priyadarshan fears this direction leads to a loss of small, intimate, and emotional moments in filmmaking, a concern that also troubles Kapoor, who finds fewer scripts offering substantial roles for women.
