Summary
- Kapoor Haveli in Peshawar suffered structural damage.
- Heavy rains and a recent earthquake caused the collapse.
- No casualties were reported in the incident.

A section of the historic Kapoor Haveli in Peshawar, the ancestral home of the renowned Kapoor family, has reportedly collapsed. This structural damage is attributed to continuous heavy rainfall that weakened the building, followed by tremors from a recent earthquake. Officials confirmed that a portion of the haveli's wall caved in, prompting urgent calls for preservation efforts.
Fortunately, the incident on Friday night resulted in no reported casualties or injuries. However, the collapse has heightened concerns over the safety of the remaining structure. Shakeel Waheedullah, secretary of the heritage council, emphasized the need for immediate restoration and preservation steps by the archaeology department and provincial government.
Located in Peshawar's Qissa Khwani bazar, the Kapoor Haveli holds significant historical importance as a notable monument in Pakistan. Built between 1918 and 1922, it was home to Prithviraj Kapoor and the birthplace of Raj Kapoor and Trilok Kapoor. Despite its delicate condition, its architectural beauty remains evident. The building was abandoned in 1947 after the Partition.
