In the recent box office clash, Rishab Shetty's 'Kantara: Chapter 1' has emerged as the clear winner over Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor's 'Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari'. The 'Kantara' prequel, which released on October 2nd, has managed to surpass even the numbers of the original 2022 blockbuster.
A key factor that widened the box office gap was the wider release of 'Kantara: Chapter 1', which opened in five languages - Hindi, Tamil, Kannada, Telugu, and Malayalam, giving it a far broader reach compared to 'Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari'. In contrast, Varun and Janhvi's film opened at a modest ₹9.25 crore on its first day and saw a drop in collections on the second day.
While 'Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari' did see some growth over the weekend, it began experiencing a gradual decline from Monday onwards, making in the range of ₹2-3 crore. On the other hand, 'Kantara: Chapter 1' has crossed the ₹450 crore mark on its 12th day, showcasing its overwhelming dominance at the box office.
