Kantara Makers Demand Exclusive Screenings, Leaving Exhibitors Stunned
26 Sep
Summary
- Kantara: A Legend - Chapter 1 makers demand 100% showcasing in single, 2-screen, and 3-screen theatres
- Exhibitors express reservations about this "unreasonable demand"
- Kantara makers also demand extensive showcasing in larger multiplexes

As the release of Kantara: A Legend - Chapter 1 and Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari approaches in the coming week, a clash between the two films has erupted over show sharing. The distributors of Kantara: A Legend - Chapter 1, AA Films, have sent a mail to exhibitors demanding unprecedented showcasing for their film.
According to a trade source, AA Films has demanded that all shows in single-screen and 2-screen cinemas, as well as 18 shows out of the total 21 in 3-screen multiplexes, be allocated to Kantara: A Legend - Chapter 1. This effectively means the film will have 100% showcasing in these smaller theatre formats, leaving no room for Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari.
The source further revealed that the Kantara makers have also asked for extensive showcasing in larger multiplexes, ranging from 21 shows in 4-screen theatres to a whopping 54 shows in 10-screen plexes. Additionally, they have demanded 100% IMAX shows, which would mean the current run of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba - The Movie: Infinity Castle in IMAX would have to end.
Many exhibitors have expressed reservations about this arrangement, with one stating, "I don't agree with this unreasonable demand. We understand that Kantara: A Legend - Chapter 1 is a highly anticipated film, but Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari also looks like a fun entertainer that will attract family audiences and youth. Hence, I'd like to play that film as well. We hope the makers of Kantara understand our dilemma and find a solution."
