Kantara Chapter 1 Shatters Box Office Records, Becomes Highest-Grossing Film Globally

Kantara Chapter 1, the Kannada period action epic directed by Rishab Shetty, has achieved a remarkable feat at the global box office. In just one week since its release, the film has grossed an estimated $53 million (₹446 crore) worldwide, making it the highest-grossing film globally in its opening week.

This unprecedented success has seen Kantara Chapter 1 outperform major Hollywood releases, including Taylor Swift: The Official Release Party of a Showgirl ($50 million) and Paul Thomas Anderson's One Battle After Another ($40 million). The film has also surpassed the re-released Avatar: The Way of Water, which earned under $10 million in the same period.

Within India, Kantara Chapter 1 has become the fourth Kannada film to cross the ₹150 crore mark, achieving this milestone in record time. The film's opening weekend collections of ₹224.35 crore have already surpassed the lifetime earnings of several Bollywood blockbusters, cementing its status as a true box office phenomenon.
