Kantara 2 Faces Post-Diwali Slump, Aims to Reclaim Box Office Dominance
25 Oct
Summary
- Kantara 2 has grossed ₹567.16 crore in 23 days
- Film's daily collections have dropped significantly after Diwali
- Faces competition from new releases Thamma and Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat

Rishab Shetty's Kantara 2 has been dominating the box office since its release, but the film is now facing a significant slump in its collections after the Diwali holiday period. As of 2025-10-25T06:15:25+00:00, the film has grossed a total of ₹567.16 crore, with its daily earnings dropping to just ₹3.06 crore on the 23rd day, its lowest single-day collection so far.
The film has been released in 5 languages, with the Hindi and Kannada versions being the primary drivers of its success. However, the post-Diwali period has been challenging for Kantara 2, with both the Kannada and Hindi versions seeing a drop of over 50% in their daily collections. In Kannada, the film earned just ₹72 lakh on the 23rd day, compared to ₹1.85 crore the previous day, while the Hindi version earned ₹1.81 crore, down from ₹3.75 crore.
There are a few possible reasons for this slump. Firstly, with the Diwali vacation coming to an end, audiences are likely getting back into their regular work routines. Secondly, the film is now in its fourth week, and many of the viewers who were interested in it have already seen it. Additionally, the film is facing competition from two new releases, Ayushmann Khurrana's Thamma and Harshvardhan Rane's Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat.
However, the film still has a chance to regain its momentum and potentially become the highest-grossing film of 2025, surpassing the records set by Vicky Kaushal and Laxman Utekar's Chhaava. With the weekend approaching, Kantara 2 will have another opportunity to attract audiences and make up for the lost ground.
