On October 31, 2025, Kannada Zee5 unveiled 'Maarigallu', a captivating web series that celebrates Karnataka's cultural heritage through a mystical folklore thriller. Set in the lush landscapes of Sirsi, the seven-episode series (22-30 minutes each) is deeply rooted in regional traditions, with the ancient Bedara Vesha folk art forming the spiritual backbone of its narrative.
Produced by PRK Studios (Ashwini Puneeth Rajkumar), 'Maarigallu' follows a group of villagers who stumble upon an ancient clue hinting at a lost Kadamba-era treasure. What begins as a hopeful quest slowly transforms into a chilling descent into greed, betrayal, superstition, and divine mystery. As myth clashes with mortal ambition, the story unravels a secret protected by time, and something far greater than human understanding.
The talented ensemble cast, led by Rangayana Raghu, Gopal Krishna Deshpande, and Praveen Tej, delivers powerful performances that blend seamlessly with the rural milieu. The series' atmospheric camerawork beautifully captures Sirsi's mystical landscapes, though the background score could have leaned more into eerie tones to heighten the supernatural suspense.
