As of October 25th, 2025, the Malayalam superhero film Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra, starring Kalyani Priyadarshan and Naslen, has completed its theatrical run in the Hindi belt. The movie, produced by Dulquer Salmaan's Wayfarer Films, had generated a lot of buzz upon its release on August 28th, 2025, with Bollywood stars like Alia Bhatt and Priyanka Chopra Jonas praising the female-led superhero flick.
However, the film struggled to find success in the Hindi market, making a slow start with just ₹15 lakhs on its opening day. Over its entire run, Lokah Chapter 1 managed to accumulate only ₹3.78 crores at the Hindi box office, which is just 24% of its overall earnings of ₹156.55 crores across all languages.
While Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra outperformed its Malayalam rival L2: Empuraan, which collected ₹2.42 crores in the Hindi belt, the film's performance was still not enough to make a significant impact. The ensemble cast, which includes Kalyani Priyadarshan, Naslen, Sandy Master, Arun Kurian, and Chandu Salim Kumar, was not able to draw in the desired audience in the Hindi-speaking regions.
Despite the underwhelming performance in the Hindi market, Lokah Chapter 1 remains the highest-grossing Malayalam film of all time in India and the highest Mollywood grosser at the worldwide box office. The producers have already announced the sequel, Lokah Chapter 2, featuring Tovino Thomas in the leading role.
