Filming for the sequel to Nag Ashwin's 'Kalki 2898 AD' has officially begun, with a new schedule taking place in Hyderabad. Veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan has already been on set, and now, Dulquer Salmaan and JD Chakravarthy have joined him for their parts in the ongoing production.
Prabhas, a key lead, is slated to join the filming process soon. This latest schedule indicates that work on the next installment is moving forward efficiently after a brief pause. Previous reports suggested that initial shooting for the sequel had already commenced in February, with Amitabh Bachchan and Kamal Haasan participating in scenes filmed without Prabhas's character.
The original 'Kalki 2898 AD,' released in 2024, featured an ensemble cast including Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan, and Kamal Haasan, set in a dystopian future. For the upcoming installment, there are rumors that Sai Pallavi might be considered to replace Deepika Padukone.
As of March 22, 2026, the production is actively underway, with key cast members joining the Hyderabad-based shoot. The team is working diligently to bring the next chapter of this ambitious mythological sci-fi saga to life.
