Kali Uchis, the Colombian artist, has been named a 2025 ASCAP Women Behind the Music honoree, alongside Kehlani and KPop Demon Hunters' lead vocalist EJAE. The annual ASCAP Women Behind the Music event, scheduled for November 12 in Los Angeles, celebrates extraordinary women who have pushed boundaries and achieved creative success in the music industry.
In the Dominican Republic, renowned singer-songwriter Juan Luis Guerra was recognized as the "Musical and Poetic Heritage of the Dominican Republic" by the country's Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The minister praised Guerra's ability to narrate the everyday experiences of the Dominican people through his poetic verses and timeless hits like "Bachata Rosa" and "Mi Bendicion."
Additionally, the Latin Recording Academy and the Latin GRAMMY Cultural Foundation have announced the inaugural recipient of the Latin Music Educator Award. Luciana Ortega, a music teacher from the Instituto Santa María de San Carlos in Chile, was honored for her exceptional work in incorporating Latin music into her curriculum. As part of the award, the school's music program will receive a $10,000 instrument donation.
