Summary
- Fiancé Tom Pelphrey was unaware of Kaley Cuoco's Big Bang Theory role.
- Cuoco's family members mistakenly called her by her character's name.
- Pelphrey has not watched Cuoco in the sitcom, despite their relationship.

Kaley Cuoco, beloved for her role as Penny Hofstadter in "The Big Bang Theory," revealed that her fiancé, Tom Pelphrey, was completely unaware of the show when they first met. During an appearance on The Graham Norton Show, Cuoco recounted how Pelphrey's family members affectionately, yet confusingly, referred to her by her character's name.
Pelphrey's confusion was evident when his family continued to call Cuoco "Penny." He later apologized, admitting he didn't understand why his family used her character's name. Cuoco had to explain her significant role in the popular sitcom to Pelphrey, though he has still not watched it.
The couple, who welcomed their daughter Matilda in March 2023, announced their engagement in the year following the birth. Cuoco also shared a difficult period in April 2022, prior to her divorce finalization, where she felt she had "ruined" her life. However, she found strength to recover and has not spoken ill of her ex-husband.
Cuoco met Pelphrey, an actor known for "Ozark" and "Iron Fist," shortly after her divorce. They met on encouraging terms at the fourth season premiere of his Netflix series "Ozark" in Manhattan.
