The track, titled "Horses and Divorces," is featured on Musgraves' forthcoming album, "Middle of Nowhere," which is scheduled for release on May 1, 2026. This collaboration marks a significant moment, given the years of distance between the two artists following a disagreement over the song "Mama's Broken Heart" in 2013. Musgraves had initially intended the hit for herself, but ultimately allowed Lambert to record it.

Recently, Musgraves reached out to Lambert, proposing a duet that could humorously explore their common ground, including shared experiences with horses and divorces. Lambert accepted the offer, leading to a collaborative songwriting session where they addressed past issues and created the song within hours. Musgraves views the duet as a symbol of her hope for greater understanding and humor in the world, encouraging people to "sit down and poke fun at each other."
