Country singer Kacey Musgraves is deepening her engagement with música mexicana and celebrating her Texas roots through a new collaboration. She has released a Spanish rendition of her popular song "Uncertain, TX," featuring the celebrated Texan group Intocable.
This new version features Musgraves singing entirely in Spanish, harmonizing with Intocable's lead singer Ricky Javier Muñoz. The track leans into a cumbia-inspired sound, marking Musgraves's first full-length song recorded in Spanish. She expressed excitement about working with Intocable, calling them legends and a thrilling prospect.
Musgraves views the collaboration as a proud example of Texas's vibrant cultural melting pot. Intocable, a norteño band formed in the early Nineties, continues to demonstrate significant influence and popularity, recently performing for an estimated 300,000 people in Mexico City.
This isn't Musgraves's first foray into música mexicana; she previously collaborated with Carin León on the bilingual track "Lost in Translation." She has consistently shown interest in blending country music with regional Mexican sounds, a reflection of her upbringing in Texas. Her recent album, "Middle of Nowhere," explored Texas borderland history through several música mexicana-influenced tracks, including "Uncertain, TX," which became a No. 1 hit on Texas Radio.
