Tamil Cinema Loses a Legend: K Bhagyaraj Dies at 73

Veteran Tamil filmmaker, actor, and screenwriter K Bhagyaraj passed away in Chennai on Saturday. He was 73 years old.

Bhagyaraj's demise has led to tributes from across the film fraternity, with many recalling his exceptional storytelling and screenplay writing skills. The Tamil Nadu government announced that state honors would be accorded to him during his final journey, recognizing his significant impact on Tamil cinema.

Known for his middle-class family dramas and sharp dialogues, Bhagyaraj began his career as an assistant director before establishing himself as a successful filmmaker. He directed over 25 films and acted in more than 75, with celebrated works including 'Mundhanai Mudichu' and 'Andha 7 Naatkal'.

Prominent personalities including former Chief Minister MK Stalin, actors Kamal Haasan, and Venkatesh Daggubati, along with Raghava Lawrence, Selvaraghavan, and Simran, have mourned his loss. They lauded his contributions and the lasting legacy he leaves behind.
