Mare of Easttown Star Joins HBO's 'Task'

Julianne Nicholson, acclaimed for her role as Lori Ross in HBO's 'Mare of Easttown,' is set to appear in the second season of the network's detective drama 'Task.' This casting choice has ignited speculation about a potential crossover between the two series.

Both 'Task' and 'Mare of Easttown' share a common creator and showrunner in Brad Ingelsby, and are set in the working-class suburbs surrounding Philadelphia. The specifics of Nicholson's role in 'Task' remain undisclosed. The official logline for 'Task' Season 2 states: "Tom Brandis (Mark Ruffalo) takes the helm of a new task force, but the deeper the operation runs, the harder it is to tell who's the target."

Nicholson joins a cast that includes Mark Ruffalo, Mahershala Ali, Harry Melling, Adam Nagaitis, Aminah Nieves, and Edgar Ramirez for 'Task's' second season. While 'Mare of Easttown,' which premiered in 2021, was initially designed as a miniseries, discussions about a continuation have been ongoing. As of this year, HBO's drama head confirmed early talks, and lead actress Kate Winslet expressed optimism for a second season, suggesting it could potentially film in 2027.
