Academy Award-nominated actor Josh Brolin shared his deeply emotional experience reading the script for "Whalefall," a survival thriller from 20th Century Studios and Imagine Entertainment. Brolin confessed he "sobbed" upon finishing the screenplay, finding it "poetic and visceral." The film, based on Daniel Kraus's novel, is scheduled for release exclusively in Indian cinemas on October 16.
"Whalefall" stars Austin Abrams as Jay Gardiner, who embarks on a dangerous underwater search for his father's remains off the California coast. His expedition turns dire when he is swallowed by a sperm whale, leaving him with limited oxygen. Jay must draw upon his father's lessons to survive this harrowing ordeal.
Brolin plays Jay's father, Mitt Gardiner, a pivotal character whose influence drives the narrative. Producer Allan Mandelbaum described Mitt as a local diving legend and the "catalyst for Jay's adventure." Brolin found the character compelling, noting Mitt's strong presence and nautical obsession, which he felt well-equipped to portray.
