Brazilian producer João Roni, known for his executive production of "My Penguin Friend," has launched Marea Cine, a new content creation and production company. This move marks the final phase of a strategic restructuring that began in 2025. Marea Cine's primary focus is on international co-productions, with a current slate featuring 19 projects.
Eleven of these projects are already set as international co-productions, involving partners from Italy, Argentina, Uruguay, Canada, Spain, Chile, and France. Notable upcoming productions include the feature film "Dot," inspired by the true story of nun Dorothy Stang, and a limited series titled "Lot 55" on the same tragedy. Marea Cine is also developing "Brigitte Montfort: Blood on the Tropics," a live-action spy series based on a popular Brazilian pulp fiction IP.
Marea Cine aims to develop relevant, high-impact projects to capture global audiences and foster partnerships that yield strong artistic results. Roni plans to continue collaborations with established partners like Netflix, HBO, and ESPN, leveraging his extensive experience in the international market.
