Farwell’s extensive career included a notable stint as the understudy for Yul Brynner in the original Broadway production of "The King and I," spanning 1,453 performances. Despite this proximity to stardom, he famously never got the chance to perform as the King of Siam, as audiences only came to see Brynner.
His career showcased remarkable versatility, with acclaimed performances in "Amadeus," "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest," and "King Lear." Farwell also had a personal connection to the Bas Bleu Theatre in Fort Collins, where he performed regularly with his late wife, Debbie Note.
