Jonathan Bailey, recently crowned 2025's highest-grossing actor, is teaming up with Oscar winner Natalie Portman for the psychological thriller "Pumping Black." Directed by Mimi Cave, the film is set within the fiercely competitive realm of professional cycling.
The story follows cyclist Taylor Mace, who, facing the twilight of his career at 35, is mentored by Dr. Andrea Lathe. As the race for the Tour de France intensifies, Taylor resorts to increasingly darker methods to safeguard a secret, in what is described as a dangerous, adrenaline-fueled thriller.
Produced by Stacey Sher, Natalie Portman, and Sébastien Raybaud, with Anton fully financing the project, production is scheduled to commence in the fall. The film's international sales will begin at the Cannes Film Festival, with CAA co-representing U.S. rights. Comparisons have been drawn to "Whiplash" and "Black Swan."
