In a recent episode of ITV's DNA Journey, acclaimed actor John Simm, known for his roles in 'Life On Mars' and 'Doctor Who,' embarked on a personal quest that unveiled profound family secrets.
The 56-year-old discovered that his biological father was a Lancashire club manager named Terence, rather than his adoptive father, Ronald Simm, who passed away in 2015. Simm's mother, Brenda, had met Terence in the 1960s before returning to Ronald, who raised John.
This genetic exploration also brought the revelation of a previously unknown half-sister, Karen. Simm met Karen towards the conclusion of the documentary, marking a significant moment in his understanding of his lineage.
Simm, who is married to actress Kate Magowan, with whom he shares two children, Ryan and Mollie, has previously spoken about his sense of always feeling 'a bit different' from his family. The DNA findings offered him a sense of vindication.
Recently, Simm and Magowan relocated from London to Brighton. Magowan shared their move on Instagram, writing, 'Goodbye London, it's been memorable. Hello BRIGHTON!' The couple also shares a passion for rock music, having attended an Oasis concert at Wembley Stadium last August.
