John Mulaney is reportedly being considered for the iconic role of Agent Maxwell Smart in Warner Bros.' upcoming film reboot of "Get Smart." The project is currently in its very early developmental stages.
Seth Grahame-Smith, known for his writing on "Now You See Me: Now You Don't," is set to pen the screenplay. Andrew Lazar and Chuck Roven are attached as producers for the film.
The original "Get Smart" television series, co-created by Mel Brooks and Buck Henry, first aired in 1965 and concluded in 1970 after 138 episodes. It starred Don Adams as the bumbling Agent Smart and earned multiple Emmy awards during its run.
A previous film adaptation in 2008 starred Steve Carell as Agent Smart and achieved moderate box office success. Mulaney's recent work includes hosting Netflix's "Everybody's Live with John Mulaney" and an upcoming role in David O. Russell's sports biopic "Madden."
