John Mayer Teases New Music: Cuffing Season Anthem Incoming?

John Mayer has announced new solo music, his first since 2021's 'Wild Blue.' A single is slated for release on October 23. Mayer shared a teaser on Instagram, featuring a clip of the song and a visual of two people handcuffed together. The caption read, "I'll run away with you... October 23." Fans have drawn comparisons between the song snippet and Bruce Springsteen's 1985 hit 'I'm on Fire.'

This announcement follows Mayer's earlier mention of mixing a new song, which he indicated would sound 'different.' His most recent solo single was 'Wild Blue' from the album Sob Rock. He also recently collaborated with Lainey Wilson on 'Phone, Keys, Wallet.'

In addition to new music, Mayer is increasing his performance schedule at the Sphere in Las Vegas. He announced three additional dates for his 2027 residency, bringing the total number of shows to 21.
