John Lennon's Son Julian Embraces Indie Music and Memoir Amid Beatles Biopic

In a recent interview, musician Julian Lennon, the son of the late John Lennon, opens up about his experiences navigating fame as a 'nepo baby' and his plans for the future. Lennon, who is now 62 years old, first rose to prominence in the 1980s with hits like "Valotte" and "Too Late for Goodbyes." However, he admits that the music industry has been a "mixed bag" for him since then.

Lennon is now embracing a more independent approach to his music career, releasing a 4-song EP titled "because..." and working on an unconventional memoir. He explains that the EP allows him to be more "civil" and "free" about his creativity, without the pressure of a full-length album. The songs date back to the late 80s and early 90s, and Lennon says they capture the carefree spirit of his younger days.

In addition to his musical pursuits, Lennon is also involved in an upcoming Beatles biopic directed by Sam Mendes. Lennon says he was initially skeptical about another film about the iconic band, but he's now more intrigued after meeting with Mendes, who assured him that Lennon's and his mother Cynthia's stories will be told with "absolute clarity and truth."

As Lennon continues to navigate his own legacy and the shadow of his famous father, he's focused on creating a meaningful body of work and sharing his unique perspective through his memoir and the upcoming biopic.
