John Carter Cash's New Album Pineapple John Reflects His Jamaican Roots

In October 2025, John Carter Cash, the Grammy Award-winning artist and producer, released his newest album, Pineapple John. The 55-year-old Cash, who carries on the legacy of his legendary parents, Johnny Cash and June Carter, describes the album as a "melting pot" and a concise reflection of his current headspace.

Pineapple John, an imaginary, life-worn singer-songwriter, serves as the central character through which Cash explores his personal experiences, particularly the time he spent in Jamaica, which was a second home to his parents. The album features a blend of airy, beach-ready tunes and contemplative reflections, with Cash drawing on his lifelong connection to the ocean and his family's seafaring heritage.

The collaborative effort behind Pineapple John is a true continuation of the Carter family tradition. Cash's sons, Jack and Joseph, as well as his daughter Anna, all contributed to the album, either through songwriting, instrumentation, or vocal performances. Even Cash's youngest daughter, 8-year-old Grace, lent her voice to one of the tracks. The artist also pays homage to his iconic father, incorporating some of Johnny Cash's beloved songs into the project.
