Mazzone's health struggles began at age 17 with the onset of New Daily Persistent Headache (NDPH), a condition causing relentless, unremitting head pain. He endured approximately 87,972 consecutive hours of this pain. Over the years, he faced numerous diagnoses including gastroparesis, Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, POTS, and autoimmune encephalitis, among others.
Despite his severe health challenges, Mazzone displayed immense endurance and ambition, wanting to create, perform, and build a family. His illnesses continuously hindered his ability to live the life he desired. His bandmates remembered his passion for music as his "medicine" and a way to express his life's experiences.
