The UK duo Jockstrap has released I<3UQTINVU, a compilation featuring remixes of songs from their 2022 album, I Love You Jennifer B. These new versions, created by Taylor Skye, inject a high-energy, mischievous spirit into the original tracks.
I<3UQTINVU transforms the polished sound of Jennifer B into more raucous anthems, akin to a post-show party. The remixes explore a wider range of genres, including grime, chiptune, and harder EDM, with featured artists like Ian Starr adding unique vocal styles.
While the remixes push boundaries, vocalist Georgia Ellery's contributions remain a grounding force, balancing the new tracks' harsher edges. Some remixes streamline Ellery's original songwriting, while others retain key elements, showcasing Jockstrap's distinctive approach.
Not every remix achieves the mark, with some falling into predictable patterns. However, standout tracks like "Sexy 2" offer intimate new material, demonstrating Jockstrap's evolving artistry and their knack for creating compelling music from experimentation.
