4 Feb
Summary
- J.K. Rowling addressed accusations linking her to Jeffrey Epstein.
- Epstein reportedly tried to attend a 2018 Harry Potter play party.
- A publicist, not Rowling, sought the invitation for Epstein.

In recent weeks, millions of documents related to financier Jeffrey Epstein's illegal activities have been divulged. Among the names mentioned in a new batch of files released on January 30th, 2026, is J.K. Rowling, author of the Harry Potter series.
The files reference an incident from April 2018 where Epstein allegedly sought to attend a Broadway opening party for "Harry Potter and the Cursed Child." According to reports, Epstein was reportedly turned away at the door despite having received incorrect passes.
Social media speculation incorrectly suggested Rowling was responsible for Epstein's invitation. Rowling addressed these claims on X, denying any connection. Publicist Peggy Siegal, an associate of Epstein's, reportedly reached out to producers, not explicitly naming Epstein but referring to a "very important friend" seeking tickets.
