Jimmy Webb, the acclaimed songwriter behind hits like "MacArthur Park," is releasing a new album titled "Yours For the Taking: The Found Songs of Jimmy Webb" on October 16th. This collection features 13 songs that were previously unrecorded or neglected, brought back to life with the inspiration of his wife and children.
Webb, who is turning 80 on Saturday (August 15th), described the album as a "rebirth," aiming to give these youthful creations new energy. The first single, an original demo of "Winter Clothes," written with Frank Sinatra in mind, will be available on Friday (August 14th).
The album includes new recordings and original demos of songs that Webb had pitched to various artists, including Linda Ronstadt and Barbra Streisand, without success. "Yours For the Taking" was produced by Fred Mollin and recorded across Nashville, New York, and Los Angeles.
"Yours For the Taking" features collaborations with notable artists such as Graham Nash, Beth Nielsen Chapman, Michael McDonald, Marc Cohn, Amy Grant, and Justin Currie. Webb plans to tour in November, with dates scheduled in New York City, Boston, and Roslyn, NY.
