Years before her role in the Lioness program, Jill Wagner starred as Krista Starr in the 2006 Marvel series, "Blade: The Series." This show, which aired for one season on the Paramount Network (then Spike TV), served as a continuation of the "Blade" film franchise. Wagner's character, a military combat medic, investigated her brother's death, uncovering a vampire world and eventually becoming one herself. She then reluctantly partnered with Blade to avenge her brother's killer.
"Blade: The Series" represented Wagner's first main cast role on television. The series premiere attracted a record 2.5 million viewers for Spike TV. However, viewership steadily decreased throughout the season, with the finale drawing only 896,000 viewers. It was Wagner who ultimately informed her fans about the show's cancellation via a MySpace post, expressing her enjoyment of playing Krista Starr.
