A new nine-part television series offers a dramatized account of the love story between Carolyn Bessette and John F. Kennedy Jr., often compared to America's own Princess Diana. The series begins by depicting the tragic July 1999 crash that claimed their lives before flashing back to their initial meeting.
Carolyn Bessette is presented as an ambitious and assertive fashion professional, while John F. Kennedy Jr. is shown as a charming but somewhat lost individual. Their burgeoning romance faces obstacles, including Kennedy Jr.'s ongoing relationship with actress Daryl Hannah, who is depicted unfavorably.
Notable is the portrayal of Jackie Kennedy, played by Naomi Watts, who expresses concerns about her son's choices. The series, produced by Ryan Murphy, aims for a glossy yet controversial depiction of the couple's life and eventual demise.
