Simpson revealed that she had been sober for nearly nine years and had to confront past traumas that she was holding onto.

She explained to the audience that she had become someone she feared, a person she did not recognize, impacting her role as a mother. Simpson shared that it took about a year to understand that her drinking was not a solution but a source of further pain, describing it as a failed crutch. She is a mother to three children: Maxwell Drew, Ace Knute, and Birdie Mae, with her estranged husband Eric Johnson.
