6 Oct, 2025
Summary
- Renner's 12-year-old daughter Ava wrote and narrated a note for his audiobook
- Ava's essay was about the day Renner picked her up from school after his accident
- Renner says Ava's involvement was a "milestone in his recovery"

In October 2025, actor Jeremy Renner, 54, revealed that his 12-year-old daughter Ava had a special role in the audiobook of his memoir, "My Next Breath." The audiobook, which discusses Renner's 2023 near-fatal snowplow accident, features a note written and read by Ava.
Renner, who typically keeps his daughter out of the public eye, explained that Ava "sort of inserted herself into that scenario by writing the essay early on." For a school assignment, Ava had written about the day her father picked her up from school following his accident. Renner says this was a significant moment in his recovery, as it took him an hour and a half to get into the car.
"It was something I needed to do. I needed to get out of the house. I needed to show her that I was actually really recovering in a really big way," Renner shared. "And her writing that essay is just a reminder that it was just as important to me [as] it was to her [in] showing her that her dad's getting better. And, it's because of her that I am better."
Renner also shared a birthday tribute to Ava in March, praising her "excellence, her kindness, strength and fortitude." The loving father said Ava "will always be my everything, my only thing, my number one!"
