A former reporter and decorated game show contestant, Berman died on December 5th following a nearly 19-year fight with cancer. During his time on Jeopardy!, he won four games, accumulating $37,101 and watches, before his streak ended in July. He later reached the semifinals in the Tournament of Champions.
Berman’s passion for trivia extended beyond Jeopardy!; in 2024, he won $20,000 on Trivial Pursuit and consistently placed in the top five internationally in national trivia tournaments. His career in journalism included reporting for multiple Indiana radio stations, covering six governors and broadcasting statewide.
In 2022, Berman was honored with the Sagamore of the Wabash, Indiana’s highest civilian award. He is remembered as a lifelong fan of Broadway and the Chicago Cubs, and a member of the National Puzzlers' League. He is survived by his wife and son.
