Jennifer's Body 2: Sequel Gets Fun & Crazy Update

A sequel to the 2009 comedy horror film Jennifer's Body is now in active development, with director Karyn Kusama confirming the news. Writer Diablo Cody is currently crafting the script for 20th Century Studios. Kusama expressed excitement about the project, hinting that it will retain the fun and crazy energy that defined the original movie. She noted that she has seen some of the early concepts for the sequel.

The original Jennifer's Body, starring Megan Fox, initially struggled commercially due to a mis-marketed campaign and harsh media coverage. Kusama recently pointed to a pop culture nod in Prime Video's Overcompensating, which included a cameo from Fox, as evidence of the film's lasting impact. She humorously recalled the film being described as someone's 'Godfather,' finding it delightful. Reflecting on the original, Kusama admitted hesitation upon seeing the title but was ultimately captivated by the script's blend of humor, horror, and tragedy, with Fox's performance being a key element.
