Actress Jennifer Garner has shared her philosophy on navigating career setbacks, believing that rejections can serve as a form of protection. She detailed an instance where she intensely desired a role in The West Wing but did not get it. Following this disappointment, Garner traveled to Palm Springs alone for a few days to process the experience.

Remarkably, only two weeks after this setback, Garner was offered the lead role in the television series Alias. This role ultimately became her career-defining opportunity. Garner expressed her gratitude for this turn of events, embracing the idea that sometimes not getting a desired part can lead to a more significant, impactful career path. She noted that this perspective helps her cope with the inherent uncertainties of acting.

Garner also reflected on the conclusion of Alias, which aired its final episode approximately 20 years prior to 2026. She mentioned that wrapping the show was an emotional experience, with a memorable moment involving a plane flying a banner for her on her birthday. However, she stated she has never been able to watch the final episode due to the death of a character played by Victor Garber.
