13 Apr
Summary
- Garth preferred communicating only with Will Calhoun on set.
- Schneider faced allegations of misconduct with child actors.
- Garth stated there were 'many problems in the ecosystem' for Bynes.

Jennie Garth recently shared her recollections of working on the sitcom 'What I Like About You' with producer Dan Schneider. Appearing on the 'Armchair Expert' podcast on April 13, 2026, Garth recounted preferring to communicate exclusively with co-producer Will Calhoun, stating she did not feel the same trust with Schneider.
Schneider, who co-created the show that ran from 2002 to 2006, has faced significant allegations of fostering a toxic work environment and misconduct involving child actors. Garth's comments align with numerous accusations from former child stars. While Amanda Bynes has not publicly accused Schneider, Garth suggested that beyond any direct misconduct, there were "many problems in the ecosystem" affecting Bynes during their time working together.
Garth, who was around 30 during the pilot filming, also reflected on her dynamic with Bynes, who was 16, stating the younger actress taught her a lot about interacting with teenage girls. Bynes has previously addressed claims of misconduct by Schneider, calling them "ridiculous." The actress has publicly navigated substantial mental health and substance abuse challenges, having been under a conservatorship from 2013 to 2022.
