Actress Jena Malone Releases First Album in a Decade

Actress Jena Malone is stepping back into the music scene with her first album in over a decade, "Flowers for Men," scheduled for release on May 8 via There Was an Old Woman Records. The lead single, "Barstow," has been unveiled with a music video directed by Jennifer Reeder, starring Malone and Robin Tunney. Malone expressed excitement and nervousness about releasing new music after a nearly ten-year hiatus, noting that the album was born from personal transformation following motherhood.

The creative process for "Flowers for Men" involved writing and arranging songs on her iPhone during fragmented moments. The music video for "Barstow," which Malone calls her favorite song on the record, was a collaborative effort with director Jennifer Reeder, who Malone deeply admires for her world-building in films like "Knives and Skin."

To support the album's release, Malone has announced a series of live performances starting in June. The tour includes a stop at Cafe Du Nord in San Francisco, followed by dates in Los Angeles, Chicago, Toronto, and New York City. The album's dreamy, synth-infused atmosphere is expected to appeal to both long-time fans and newcomers to Malone's musical endeavors.
