Jean Smart is once again a contender for the Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series, thanks to her role in the critically acclaimed show Hacks. This latest nomination means she has been recognized for all four seasons of the series. If she secures a win at the upcoming ceremony, Smart will achieve eight Emmy wins, a milestone that would tie her with comedy legends Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Cloris Leachman for the most acting Emmy awards.
Smart's impressive Emmy collection already includes four awards for Hacks, plus two for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series for her work on Frasier. She also earned an Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for her part in the sitcom Samantha Who?. Notably, she once joked about misplacing one of her seven Emmys.
The competition is fierce, with other nominees including Ayo Edebiri and Quinta Brunson. Smart's potential victory would place her in an elite group of performers who have achieved such a high number of acting Emmy wins, highlighting her sustained impact and talent in the comedy genre.
