Grammy-winning musician Jay-Z recently debuted a stunning Afro at the Roots Picnic, a stark departure from his long-standing locs. This unexpected transformation, which became one of the most talked-about celebrity beauty moments of the weekend, led to widespread speculation online.

However, the dramatic look was not a wig but the result of a meticulous six-day process where Jay-Z's locs were carefully combed out. Celebrity hairstylist Letisia "Letty" Ravelo, with assistance from a professional loctician, undertook the time-consuming task.

Ravelo utilized Beyoncé's Cécred haircare line, including the Detangling Spray and Deep Conditioner, to preserve the length and health of Jay-Z's hair. The process involved patiently separating intertwined strands from the bottom up, using approximately eight large containers of deep conditioner.

Following the deconstruction of his locs, Ravelo treated his hair with Cécred's Reconstructing Treatment Mask, followed by the Moisture Sealing Lotion and Thermal Shield Mist. His hair was then braided into cornrows for a week to set before being styled into the final Afro for the performance.
