Bardem's Chilling Return: 'Cape Fear' Sequel Shocks

Javier Bardem delivers a chilling performance as Max Cady in Apple TV+'s "Cape Fear," his latest role as a vengeful character. Bardem, previously acclaimed for his role as Anton Chigurh in "No Country for Old Men" in 2007, now embodies the antagonist previously played by Robert Mitchum and Robert De Niro. The series focuses on the cat-and-mouse game between Cady and the Bowden family.

Co-star Lily Collias, who plays Natalie Bowden, described the filming of the series finale as a surreal experience. She noted how Bardem's intense portrayal of Cady contrasted with his off-camera demeanor, likening him to "Tom from 'Tom and Jerry'" after the cameras stopped rolling.

Collias also detailed Bardem's considerate approach to physically demanding scenes. Before filming a sequence where Cady grabs Natalie by the hair, Bardem sought her consent and ensured she was comfortable, a gesture that Collias found both professional and amusing.
