In the past few years, the global appetite for Japanese entertainment content has skyrocketed, with the combined market cap of Japan's top nine entertainment companies now exceeding that of the country's top nine automakers for the first time. This seismic shift is being driven in large part by the efforts of veteran producer Tetsu Fujimura, who has spent decades facilitating collaborations between Hollywood and Japan's IP-rich content landscape.
Fujimura, who founded the boutique consultancy firm Filosophia 19 years ago, has been instrumental in brokering deals that have allowed major Japanese manga, anime, and gaming properties to be adapted for global audiences. His work has included executive producing Netflix's live-action adaptation of One Piece and consulting for Nintendo on its upcoming The Legend of Zelda feature film.
