This criticism follows Kelly's controversial remarks about actress Christina Applegate's experience with MS.

Kelly had dismissed Applegate's openness about her diagnosis, suggesting it was a bid to become the "face of this disease." Dean, who herself left Fox in July due to MS progression, described Kelly's comments as "disgusting" and "heartless." Dean emphasized the personal impact of MS, noting that the disease has no cure and can be debilitating, having previously cost her a job. She expressed a desire to raise awareness rather than engage in personal attacks.
