Jane the Virgin Stars Reunite for Boxing Film

Gina Rodriguez and Justin Baldoni, beloved for their roles in Jane the Virgin, are collaborating once again on the upcoming boxing film, House of Guerrero. Rodriguez is stepping behind the camera to direct her theatrical directorial debut, with Baldoni attached to produce the project through Wayfarer Studios.

The film, based on an original story by Rodriguez and screenwriter Bernardo Cubría, follows a young fighter who gets a final chance to reclaim his career and life. Wayfarer Studios describes House of Guerrero as a fresh take on the boxing genre, highlighting its community roots.

This reunion comes after the successful five-year run of Jane the Virgin, which premiered on The CW in 2014. The series starred Rodriguez as Jane and Baldoni as Rafael. The actors have maintained a close friendship since the show ended.

Baldoni faced public allegations from Blake Lively in December 2024, which he vehemently denied, leading to a countersuit. A judge dismissed his lawsuit in June 2025, and the parties reached an out-of-court settlement in May 2026. Amidst the legal proceedings, Justin and his wife Emily shared a statement in July 2026, explaining their decision to remain silent to avoid adding to the noise of the legal battle and focusing on their healing and faith.
