Jane Fonda Backs Mayor Bass for LA Reelection

Jane Fonda has officially endorsed Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass for her upcoming reelection bid. This endorsement continues a significant political partnership between the two.

Fonda, a prominent actress and activist, previously backed Bass during her 2022 mayoral campaign. She also supported Bass's efforts to address the climate crisis, noting that L.A. needs a mayor committed to "real action."

Mayor Bass expressed her honor at receiving Fonda's support, especially during a time when "Donald Trump is attacking our city." Bass emphasized that Angelenos need leaders willing to "stand up and speak out."

This endorsement follows Mayor Bass's recent unveiling of her Climate Action Plan. The plan sets ambitious goals for the city, including achieving carbon neutrality by 2045, doubling local solar production, and installing 120,000 electric vehicle chargers.

Fonda joins a growing list of high-profile supporters for Mayor Bass, including Samuel L. Jackson, J.J. Abrams, Don Cheadle, and Jenifer Lewis. Former Vice President Kamala Harris and California Governor Gavin Newsom have also endorsed Bass's reelection.

The primary election ballots are currently being distributed, with polls set to close on Tuesday, June 2.
