Jane Asher Turned Down Bake Off Hosting Gig

Jane Asher, a prominent figure from the 1960s and a successful baker, has disclosed that she was once considered for a hosting role on The Great British Bake Off. Asher, who previously ran a cake business for 25 years, revealed she declined the offer, stating her acting career remained her primary focus. Currently, she is performing as Queen Elizabeth II in the play "By Royal Appointment," a role she described as daunting.

Asher, who turned 80 in April, also shared her decision to avoid nude scenes in future acting projects, noting the assistance of intimacy coordinators in recent work. Reflecting on her past, she was famously engaged to Sir Paul McCartney, inspiring several Beatles hits. She anticipates seeing her younger self portrayed in an upcoming Beatles film series.

Her career has seen a shift back to acting after closing her Chelsea cake shop in 2015. Asher expressed joy in her role as a grandmother and shared insights into her long-lasting marriage of 45 years. Her theatre tour, alongside her husband Gerald Scarfe, is ongoing across Britain.
