Vijay's Final Film Stuck in Certification Limbo
24 May
Summary
- Vijay's final acting film, Jana Nayagan, awaits CBFC certification for release.
- The film's release date was previously January 9 but was postponed indefinitely.
- Leaked film scenes prior to Vijay's political debut caused industry concern.

Vijay's highly anticipated final film as an actor, Jana Nayagan, has been facing significant delays for five months, primarily due to its pending certification from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). The film, directed by H Vinoth, was initially scheduled to premiere on January 9 but has been held up since then. Producer Venkat K Narayana confirmed on Friday that the team is still awaiting the censor certificate, expressing confidence in receiving it soon and announcing a grand worldwide release once it's obtained.
Reports suggest the film was first screened for the CBFC examining committee in December 2025, with recommendations for cuts to secure a U/A certificate. However, further delays ensued after complaints led to the film being referred to a revising committee. These prolonged certification issues have reportedly impacted release plans, international schedules, and distribution agreements, with Vijay alleging a conspiracy behind the delays. Amidst the wait, several scenes from Jana Nayagan were leaked online in April, just before Vijay's political debut, a move that deeply rattled the film industry, leading to nine arrests thus far.
