East Singhbhum district commenced its first literary festival, the 'Pratham Purvi Singhbhum Sahitya Utsav-2026', on Friday. This three-day event, held at Gopal Maidan, has garnered an encouraging response from across India, with book lovers, writers, scholars, and artists in attendance.
The festival's primary goals are to promote literature, culture, and art, alongside preserving tribal heritage. Notable attendees include Padma Shri Pushpesh Pant, Padma Shri Jaanum Singh Soy, and Padma Shri Haldhar Nag, alongside scholars like Parvati Tirkey and Jerry Pinto.
Chief Minister Hemant Soren praised the district administration's initiative, highlighting the region's literary traditions and the state government's efforts to establish libraries. The inaugural session focused on the 'Jharkhandi-Worldview of Tribal Language and Literature', sparking discussions on tribal culture and philosophy.
