Summary
- McAvoy played Mr. Tumnus in 'The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe'
- Bonded closely with young co-star Georgie Henley, who played Lucy Pevensie
- Described the "bonkers" experience of filming the expansive fantasy project

In October 2025, actor James McAvoy took a trip down memory lane while speaking on a panel at New York Comic-Con. The 46-year-old reflected on his time filming the 2005 fantasy movie 'The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe', in which he played the fan-favorite character Mr. Tumnus.
McAvoy revealed that one of his closest friends on set was actress Georgie Henley, who was just 8 years old at the time and played the youngest Pevensie sibling, Lucy. The director, Andrew Adamson, had intentionally paired the two actors together, and McAvoy said he spent a lot of time with Henley and her family, who were "really lovely."
The actor also described the overall experience of working on such an expansive fantasy project as "bonkers," especially being on the small sets. However, he noted that the lack of smartphones and constant connectivity at the time enhanced the magical atmosphere, as he was "just alone with it" while filming in New Zealand.
Additionally, McAvoy gave a "shout out" to the film's makeup department, which he said provided one of the best on-set experiences he's ever had. He reminisced about early mornings spent with the crew, even when the production assistants hadn't arrived yet, and called them his "absolute rocks" during the shoot.
